With dedication, you can make that much a year vinyl wrapping cars. I will go through everything you need to know on how to start wrapping cars and making money ASAP. Once you are done absorbing the information, you will have all the tools you need to get started!

Brief intro to the wrapping biz

It is imperative to understand the basics of vinyl wrapping a car before you start your business. The main thing you need to understand is that vinyl wrapping vehicles has a low barrier to entry. You don’t need a lot of money to get started. Good know-how from the start will be your saving grace. So make sure to absorb all the knowledge you can.

The average materials will cost you around $300 to $700. This will vary depending on the type of material you get. For example, if you get a chrome vinyl, then it will cost you around $3,000. You always need to factor in your material cost before you give your clients a final value.

For example, if the material costs you about $300, then a reasonable price for the full wrap would be $2,500.

An average car wrap cost around $2,500 for the customer, you can always charge a little bit less, but that will come out of your final profit. You should have no problem charging clients $2,500 per wrap.

Once you have factored this in, the second thing would be to think of the overhead cost. You will need to have a shop that will allow your clients to come in and talk to you about prices, see samples, and a place for you to wrap cars.

You can wrap costumer cars out of your garage, but the likelihood of you getting business will be slim to none. Depending on where you live, a shop will cost you around $1,000 to $2,500 a month.

If you live in an area where it gets frigid during the winter, then I would recommend you get a heated unit that allows you to wrap cars more efficiently. I don’t suspect your overall overhead going above $2,500.

How to make 100k a year

Now, if you do one vinyl wrap a week and charge $2,500, then you will be making around $10,000 a month, which would equate to $120,000 a year (approx.).

Doing one vinyl wrap a week is very doable, but keep in mind that you have to look at the overheads before you consider all your profits.

Factoring the average cost of $300 for supplies and the monthly rent you can expect to make $75,000 a year in profit. You should always be looking to increase your profit margins.

Some of the ways to do that would still be to find a space that is cheaper to rent. For example, if you find a space that costs $1,000 a month, then your profits will increase by a lot.

If we take this example, you will be able to make $93,000 a year in profits if you could decrease the rent from $2,500 to $1,000 a month.

Or you can try and find products which cost you less; this will also increase your profits. Just be careful using low-quality products on client’s vehicles. This will affect your repeat business.

Overall, finding a way to maximize your profits is the way to get closer to making $100,000 a year.

If it is possible for you, then I would recommend you start wrapping two cars a week. Doing this additional work will take your revenue and double it, that will make your net profits $140,000 a year(approx.).

The wrap takes around two to three days to complete on average, which means wrapping two cars a week is doable. The more cars you can find to wrap, the better chances you will have to make $100k a year easily.

You can also do small wraps such as brake lights and window tints. This will allow you to make even more profits on top of your car wrapping.

Maximize your visibility

You must maximize your marketability, especially when you’re trying to get business. You need customers to make money.

The first way to get customers would be to have your shop located in a suitable location. If you live in Miami, then you will have no problem driving customers.

However, if you live in Alaska, chances of people coming in for vinyl wraps would be much lower. Make sure you find a location that allows you to make more profits and drive more customers.

I also recommend that you regularly post on your Instagram and your social media to get more people to view your services.

You should also be continually going to car meet-ups and car events, to promote your business. This will help you tremendously to drive more traffic.

One final thing to remember would be that whichever wrap you do it needs to be excellent, the cars you wrap are going to be your resume.

Word of mouth is huge in this business. Make sure you are doing a great job, as that will dictate how well your business is going to flourish.

Final verdict

All these tips should help you to start making $100,000 a year. Please keep in mind that for you to be successful in this business, you will have to love what you do.

If you don’t like cars, and if you don’t like vinyl wrapping, then you will not make a dime out of this business. If you genuinely love cars and you genuinely like wrapping cars, then making $100,000 a year would be a piece of cake!

Many people are utilizing this business model to make a great living, and starting up this business is very cost-efficient. You will only need to pay for your rent, and material as you get clients.

But the main takeaway from this article would be, making $100,000 a year can be easy when using this business model.
