Gifts for LEGO fans

The best gifts for LEGO fans depend on age and taste: the LEGO Game Boy and LEGO NES are standouts for adults who grew up gaming, the rose bouquet and hibiscus are relaxing builds that double as decor, and LEGO Minecraft and LEGO Mario Kart sets are favourites for kids aged 8 and up. For open-ended play, the LEGO Classic box is a great starter. We checked every set against customer reviews for build quality and repeat complaints, and skipped sets where reviewers kept reporting missing pieces or models that fall apart (including two popular botanical sets and two Minecraft sets). Each card says which kind of builder it suits and the most common complaint. This guide has 8 picks.

Heads up: we earn a commission when you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what makes the list. We don’t show star ratings or prices; picks are in editorial order, and each one lists what reviewers love and the most common complaint, in our own words.

How we pick: we read customer-review summaries for every pick, drop anything with repeat durability complaints and show the most common complaint. How we pick
